SIR – With all the new properties being built isn’t it time the Government made it compulsory to put solar panels on all new builds?

They are trying to cut carbon emissions by encouraging the use of smart meters.

But these only tell you what you are using, they don’t actually reduce your consumption, only you can do that.

But solar panels on all new properties would be a benefit to the occupier and the climate.
