THE latest coronavirus vaccination figures show just 610 doses were handed out in the city in the last week - as the government warns of a slower roll-out until the end of July.

A total of 49,828 people in Worcester have now received at least one dose of a Covid vaccine up to April 4 – around 55 per cent of the city's estimated population.

This means only 610 more doses were handed out to people in Worcester in the week - much lower than usual and dropping by around 85 per cent of the usual rate.

Figures show the number of doses handed out in Worcester was around 4,000 a week up to the end of March but has now dropped sharply.

The government has already said that the number of coronavirus vaccine doses will drop sharply with numbers in England falling by up to half a million a week until the end of July.

The number of jabs will drop from an expected 3.2 million to just 2.7 million a week, according to a report by the government’s scientific advisers.

The figures emerged as the number of daily first doses handed out in England fell to its lowest since early January on Easter Monday (April 5).

A total of 325,294 jabs have now been given out in Worcestershire.

In Worcester, another 193 doses were handed out to people in their 50s, 40 jabs were given to people in their 60s and 17 more doses of a Covid vaccine were given to people in their 70s.

A total of 359 people aged under 50 were given a dose of a Covid vaccine in the week.

NHS vaccination figures show a total of 13,118 people in their 50s have received at least one jab - around 86 people in the city in that age group.

A total of 10,135 people in the city in their 60s have received at least one dose of a Covid vaccine - around 91 per cent of all the people in the age group in the city.

Figures show 8.163 people aged between 70 and 79 in the city have now received at least one jab - around 94 per cent of people.
