TEN bosses across three councils in Worcestershire have been singled out in a local authority ‘rich list’ for earning six-figure salaries.

The staff, which include chief executives, directors and managing directors, at Worcester City Council, Wychavon District Council and Malvern Hills District Council in Worcestershire have been included in the Taxpayers’ Alliance ‘rich list’ for taking home more than £100,000 last year.

Four bosses at Worcester City Council were included in the tax campaigners’ list including managing director David Blake, director of resources Shane Flynn, director of place Andrew Round and director of homes and communities Lloyd Griffiths.

City council boss David Blake was paid £112,363 in the 2019/20 financial year according to the figures with pension contributions pushing the figure to £141,353.

The city council’s director of resources Shane Flynn and director of place Andrew Round were both paid £84,064 with pension contributions bringing the total to £105,752 each.

Director of homes and communities Lloyd Griffiths was paid £79,796 with pension contributions bringing the total to £100,383 for the year.

Vic Allison, who is joint chief executive of Wychavon District Council and Malvern Hills District Council was paid £135,316 with expenses, other payments and pension contributions bringing the total to £160,748.

Andy Baldwin, deputy chief executive of Malvern Hills District Council, was paid £90,739 with other payments and pension contributions making a total of £106,492.

Jayne Pickering, deputy chief executive of Wychavon District Council, was paid £86,139 with expenses, other payments and pension contributions making a total of £104,419.

Stephen Gabriel, Malvern Hills and Wychavon’s director of housing and communities was paid £84,407 last year with expenses, other payments and pension contributions pushing the total to £100,615.

Phil Merrick, Malvern Hills and Wychavon’s director of economy and environment, was also paid £84,407 last year with pension contributions bringing the total to £100,299.

One ‘undisclosed’ role at Wychavon cost the council £137,500 last year.
