Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, 'passed away peacefully' this morning aged 99.
Buckingham Palace confirmed his death in an official statement.
βIt is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh,β the official statement reads.
Prince Philip and the Queen were married for 73 years and had four children, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Prince Philip was due to celebrate his 100th birthday on June 10, this year.
The Duke of Edinburgh had since returned home after a successful procedure for a pre-existing heart condition.
