FILM lovers and families will have the chance to enjoy Worcester’s first ever drive-in cinema event this week.

This weekend will see Sixways Stadium host a three-day drive-in cinema offering family favourites for all ages.

On April 16, 17 and 18, films including Disney Pixar's 'Onward', 'Trolls World Tour' and 'The Greatest Showman' are being shown on the big screen at the stadium.

The screenings all take place on a state-of-the-art LED video screen, meaning they can be shown in daylight and the event is being run by Shine Cinema, the local outdoor cinema company, who have partnered with Sixways to being the event to the city.

The event will have strict Covid-19 guidelines in place to ensure the safety of all customers and staff.

Ticket prices start from £25 (excluding booking fee) per vehicle.

Tickets can be purchased from www.shinecinema.co.uk/events

With the easing of the government's covid lockdown restrictions, outdoor events including outdoor cinemas can once again go ahead.

A spokesman said: "Looking for date night entertainment? Enjoy a drive-in experience with evening screenings of classics including ‘Dirty Dancing’ and ‘Grease’ or rock the night away with the biggest blockbuster of recent times ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’

"No trip out to the cinema would be complete without food and drink.

"Sixways Stadium will have a range of hot and cold beverages available to order from the comfort of your own vehicle delivered direct to your window.

"The event will have strict Covid-19 guidelines in place to ensure the safety of all customers and staff."

Last summer saw similar events held at Webbs of Wychbold and Stanbrook Abbey, but the Sixways event this weekend will be the first Worcester drive-in cinema to be held.
