DRIVERS using Worcester city centre will be faced with diversions over the coming weeks as Worcestershire County Council’s road resurfacing workers get busy.

The normal one-way system in Trinity Street in Worcester city centre is being suspended for just over two weeks, starting this Wednesday (April 21).

Resurfacing work will be carried out in Trinity Street from its junction with St Nicholas Street to its junction with St Swithin’s Street.

An alternative route will see drivers using St Nicholas Street, Angel Street, Angel Place and Broad Street.

On the same day, resurfacing work will begin in Green Hill London Road, meaning it will be closed from its junction with London Road to its junction with The Hill Avenue.

Access to frontages is unaffected but through motorists will be taken on an alternative route using St Dunstan’s Crescent, Battenhall Road, London Road and vice versa. Work is expected to take about 10 days.

Next month, Lowesmoor Place is also being resurfaced. Plans are in place to close the road from its junction with B4205 Lowesmoor Terrace to its junction with Shrub Hill Road.

Work is due to start on Sunday, May 9, and traffic will be diverted along Lowesmoor Terrace, Pheasant Street, George Street, Tallow Hill and Shrub Hill Road and vice versa. It’s thought the work will take about eight days.

Hylton Road in St John’s will be partially closed next month for resurfacing work.

The section of the road from its junction with Tybridge Street to its junction with Henwick Road will be closed at various points over a two to three-week period starting on Thursday, May 6.

There is no indication from the council as yet whether the road closure is planned to take place overnight but diversions will take drivers north through the city to cross the Severn at Holt Fleet before travelling southwards into Worcester again.
