A BARBER has had to close her shop just one week since reopening after a fire broke out at the flat above her shop last night.

Firefighters were called to tackle the blaze at the flat above the Looking Sharp barber shop in New Street, Worcester.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said the fire broke out on the terrace of the flat at around 12.45am.

There were no casualties following the incident.

Zarin Dodson, the owner of Looking Sharp, said she believes she will now have to close the shop for at least one week.

She said: "I had a phone call from the fire station at about 4.30am last night and I went straight up there.

"The water that the firefighters used to put the fire out came through our ceiling and there’s water damage everywhere, so we’ll be shut for a bit.

"I haven’t been able to go into the shop yet, but everything has been turned off by the fire service so we haven’t touched anything.

"I have assumed we will have to shut for a week but it might be longer, I don’t know exactly how long it’s going to be, I’m dreading to think to be honest.

"It’s really upsetting considering we’ve just got through all of lockdown, which was stressful itself not knowing what the outcome was going to be, but we had such a really good and busy first week, it's really upsetting.

"We won't be able to let anyone in the shop until it’s safe obviously."

She added: "But the fire service were really good and dealt with it straight way."

Posting on the shop's Facebook page, Zarin said: "Honestly could not even make this up.

"A fire broke out last night in the flat above, causing damage to the shop.

"This of course is devastating as we have just re-opened. Keep an eye on the Facebook page for updates."
