A BARBER shop in Worcester will reopen tomorrow just days after a flat fire caused the owner to close its doors.

Zarin Dodson, the owner of Looking Sharp in New Street, had to close the shop just one week since reopening after a fire broke out at the flat above her shop on Saturday night.

Zarin feared the shop might have to close for longer than a week after water damage, but she has now confirmed the shop will reopen tomorrow.

She said: "We have been given the go-ahead to open up after safety checks, sooner than I expected so we are so happy with this news.

"Obviously we are waiting for a few bits of interior to get re-done (not much at all) but that’s all an ongoing process."

Zarin added: "That was where our worries were with the electrics because of the water that came through the ceiling but fortunately it's all fine.

"There's been no damage to the electrics, thankfully it was just interior damage.

"It's a huge relief because initially I wasn't sure how long we might have to close for."

Zarin also thanked the community for their support following the incident, including salon owners in the city.

She said: "A few of the local salon owners reached out to me over messenger and offered me and Matt who I work with seats and sections in their shops for us to work at.

"The girls at Peel and Adams barbers and the owner of the Avant Garde salons in Worcester reached out to help, I can't believe how nice they were."

Firefighters were called to tackle the blaze at the flat above the Looking Sharp barber shop on Saturday night.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said the fire broke out on the terrace of the flat at around 12.45am.

There were no casualties following the incident.
