THE May bank holiday weekend is almost upon us, and residents will be wondering whether they will be needing the suncream or the umbrellas as they head outdoors.

Like much of the country, Worcester has enjoyed some lovely weather since lockdown restrictions were eased and pubs and restaurants were allowed to reopen to customers outdoors earlier this month, and, according to the Met Office, we can look forward to some sunshine this weekend. Sunny spells are forecast for the weekend, with the possibility of some showers to accompany dry and chilly nights.

A band of rain then arrives from the west Monday, bringing strong winds and lower temperatures. Saturday is expected to be dry, with sunny intervals changing to cloudy as the day progresses, with bursts of sunshine in the evening and temperatures of up to 12 degrees Celsius.According to the Met Office, sunshine is forecast throughout Sunday, with temperatures of up to 13 degrees. Monday is expected to be cloudier with spells of rain in the afternoon.

If the sun does shine this weekend, then you could head down to Droitwich Lido.

The outdoor pool will welcome back a limited number of swimmers from Saturday. Safety measures in place include online pre-booking and payment, coming beach ready and only using showers for the minimum amount of time needed.

Or you could take the youngsters to the splash pad in Gheluvelt Park.

Croome Court outdoor spaces are also open for walks, but visitors need to book in advance, otherwise they will be turned away.
