A MAN from Evesham has been arrested in connection with an incident where a man suffered suspected stab wounds in Cheltenham.

The 22-year-old from Evesham was one of nine people – eight men and a boy – arrested after emergency services were called to Cheltenham High Street by the ambulance service at 11.50pm on Sunday, May 2.

The Evesham man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and affray.

Two 18-year-old men from Cheltenham and a 21-year-old man from Tyne and Wear were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

A 25-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy, both from Cheltenham were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and grievous bodily harm.

An 18-year-old man from Oxford and a 23-year-old man from Cheltenham were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

A 20-year-old man from Cheltenham was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a class B drug.

All remain in police custody today (Monday, May 3) and it appears all those involved knew each other.

The injured man was taken to Southmead Hospital by ambulance. He has since been released and is in a stable condition.
