DOZENS of patients at a GP in Ombersley have defended the surgery after they were accused of allowing young people to ‘queue jump’ to receive the Covid-19 vaccine.
Last week, we reported that a member of the public was concerned after claiming young people were being vaccinated at Ombersley Medical Centre and then ‘boasting about it on social media.’
When asked whether the accusations were true a spokesman for the Clinical Commissioning Group said: “We’re unable to comment on individual cases as we continue to vaccinate our local community in line with the JCVI guidance.
“However, where there is a risk of vaccine potentially being wasted, it is sometimes necessary for us to vaccinate outside cohort.”
We received more than 200 comments on our Facebook page defending the surgery.
Felicity Regent said: “Well done to the team at Ombersley Medical Centre for running such a slick operation and efficiently getting the vaccine out to all age groups, brilliant!”
Hannah Warwick added: “My grandparents live in Ombersley and it’s because a large number of vaccines were left over at the end of the day so they rang around other patients registered for them to have vaccines. Should really be applauding them for their efficiency!”
Dr. Gemma Moore, GP Partner at Ombersley Medical Centre: “We were naturally delighted to read the many kind and supportive comments from members of our local community regarding our work on the Covid-19 vaccination programme.
"We’ve been grateful for the support of our patients and local residents throughout the pandemic, and their continued encouragement has played no small part in helping to make this essential vaccination programme a success.”
