ROAD resurfacing teams continue their works across Worcester and the surrounding areas over the coming days and weeks, with resultant diversions for drivers.

Towards the end of the month, there are plans in place by Worcestershire County Council to close part of A449 Ombersley Road from its junction with Haye Lane to its junction with the Blackpole Road slip road; and also to close part of A449 Ombersley Road, from its junction with Bevere Lane to its junction with the Ombersley Road Roundabout.

The alternative route for the first closure will take northbound drivers on A449 Worcester Northern Link (slip road), A4536 Hurst Lane, A38 Droitwich Road, A38 Worcester Road, A38 Roman Way, A4133 Ombersley Road, A4133 Droitwich Road; Southbound motorists must use the A449 Main Road (slip road). A4133 Droitwich Road, A4133 Ombersley Road, A38 Roman Way, A38 Worcester Road, A38 Droitwich Road, A4536 Hurst Lane.

The second closure will see drivers diverted along the A449 Main Road (slip road), A4133 Droitwich Road, A4133 Ombersley Road, A38 Roman Way, A38 Worcester Road, A38 Droitwich Road, C2281 Checketts Lane, A449 Ombersley Road and vice versa.

Work is expected to start on May 31, and expected to last 12 days. No indication has yet been given as to what time of the day the work will be carried out.

From tomorrow (Tuesday, May 11) Raglan Street will be closed from its junction with Gregory's Mill Street to its junction with St George's Walk for an expected 11 days.

The alternative route southbound will take drivers along Melbourne Street, Crown Street, Droitwich Road, Barbourne Road and Sunnyside Road; and vice-versa for traffic coming out of the city.

Little London in Worcester will be closed from its junction with Upper Tything to its junction with Chestnut Walk from today (Monday, May 10).

The diversion for traffic heading away from the city centre is Chestnut Walk, Lansdowne Road, Flag Meadow Walk, Shrubbery Avenue and Barbourne Road and for southbound traffic, Upper Tything, St Oswald's Road and Chestnut Walk.
