What is vehicle crime?
Vehicle crime is classed as:
- Theft from a vehicle
- Attempted theft of and from vehicles
- Theft of a vehicle
How does the interactive map work?
The app reveals the number of vehicle crimes in any given area.
It uses data published by the Home Office and includes crime data from the last six months.
The public can search crime rates in their area by entering a postcode or location into the search bar.
These results are displayed using three coloured circles; this is what the colours mean:
Red- an area with six or more vehicle crime reports.
Orange- an area with three to five crime reports.
Yellow- an area with one to two crime reports.
Vehicle crimes reported in Worcester
According to the data, more than 168 vehicle crimes have been reported in Worcester in the last six months.
The car park and roads around Worcestershire Royal Hospital appear to be targeted the most by criminals, as seven vehicle crime reports were made there in the last six months.
A spokesperson for Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust said:“Any crime at a hospital site is a thoughtless act impacting either those here as patients or staff working above and beyond to help those who are ill and it potentially impacts them being able to travel to and from work to look after people when we need them the most.
“We have regular security patrols and CCTV across our sites to help protect our staff, patients and visitors.”
