A TRUCK driving dad is raising £5,000 for charity in a YouTube challenge to raise awareness for autism.

Darren Price, 45, has pledged to spend a day driving his lorry in a pair of speedos if he reaches his target, as well as 5,000 followers for his YouTube channel.

He said: "The charities are close to my heart as my daughter is autistic and they have always offered us fantastic facilities to support us as a family."

His daughter, Summer Price, 6, is the inspiration behind the challenge.

"The first charity, What Makes You Different, Makes You Beautiful, has supported Summer and helped her through transitional phases," said Mr Price.

"She is (now) so much better at playing and sharing her problems."

The JustGiving page is currently at 1% of his goal.

Mr Price, from Bath Road, has been vlogging on his YouTube channel for the last three years.

"It started as a hobby and grew from there," he said. "We have a small truck blogging community, who helped me come up with the idea."

Snoezelen, is the second charity that will be receiving half of the funds who provide sensory play for those with disabilities.

He added: "I know times are hard and people are struggling but so are these places. If people can donate, that would help so much."

THE video-blogger and his fiancée, Aimee, have relied on the charities for the last six years. The facilities provided at Snoezelen, in Worcester, include a leisure therapy centre designed to help members to make choices and communicate in a different way.

What Makes You Different Makes You Beautiful, based in Malvern, offers one-to- one support as well as organising trips for the whole family.

The YouTube channel "Dazzer The Trucker" currently has 2.6k followers, which Mr Price is looking to double.

He said: "It's all going to a good cause and if it can help me increase my following, that's great too."

Sometimes collaborating with other truckers, the videos follow the day in the life of a lorry driver.

The vlogs have had views as high as 1.2k, with Mr Price saying the trucking community have come together to support the cause.
Autism is a lifelong condition that affect how a person communicates.

It also affects how a person makes sense of the world around them.
