A BIKER suffered serious injuries following a crash near Worcester earlier today.

Police closed off a street in Fernhill Heath whilst medics treated the motorcyclist following the crash.

Heavy traffic built up in the area and drivers were being asked to turn around and avoid the area while multiple police cars attended along with three ambulances at around 12.15pm.

West Mercia Police confirmed the two-vehicle collision.

West Midlands Ambulance said a man suffered a serious injury and was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

A spokesperson from West Mercia Police said: "I can confirm we are currently attending a two vehicle collision on Droitwich Road, Fernhill Heath.

"We were called at around 12.15pm Road closures are currently in place and we would ask people to use alternative routes."

A spokesperson for West Mercia Ambulance said: "We were called at 12.12pm today to reports of an RTC on Droitwich Road, Fernhill Heath, Worcester.

"Two ambulances and a critical care paramedic attended the scene and arrived to find a motorcyclist, a man, with a serious injury. He was given treatment on scene before being conveyed to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for further treatment."
