A MAN who dramatically pleaded guilty to ABH on the day of his trial has been warned he could he jailed by a judge.

At the start of his trial at Worcester Crown Court yesterday Cameron ‘Cam’ Chambers was rearraigned, with the 19-year-old finally admitting a count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm on a woman, Lorann Stanley.

John Brotherton, prosecuting, said the guilty plea was being entered on full facts which would make it acceptable to the crown, and said they would ask for a second count to lie on file.

Richard Hull, defending Chambers, confirmed to Judge Martin Jackson that they would be seeking an adjournment for a pre-sentence report.

Mr Hull said: “There are a number of issues which merit further consideration, to assist a sentencing judge.”

He requested a three week adjournment, which would give time for the pre-sentence report. The judge replied: “I adjourn to the 23rd of June”.

Bail was granted but with conditions including Chambers, of Dent Close, Worcester, must not contact directly or indirectly the victim, and for him not to enter an address in Worcester.

Mr Brotherton added there would be an application for a restraining order that the prosecution would apply for at the sentencing hearing.

Asking Chambers to stand Judge Jackson said: “Sentencing will be on June 23, you will have bail on same terms as before.

"Make sure you keep any appointments with the probation service, for the preparation of the report. The fact I am ordering a report before your sentence, is no promise to the sort of sentence you might receive.

"All options will be open to the judge, and that will have to include the possibility of immediate custody.”
