THERE are two new names on the list of Worcester food businesses that have received a five star food hygiene ratings from health inspectors.

Ratings are judged by Food Standards Agency (FSA) inspectors over the standards in the handling of food, how food is stored, how food is prepared, cleanliness of facilities and pest control, how food safety is managed and evidence staff know about food safety.

New five-star Worcester businesses to make the list, and the date they were inspected, are:

Red Hen Cookery, rear Of Oak House, Bromyard Road, (May 14)

Caterlink At Perdiswell Primary School, Bilford Road, (May 21)

A number of businesses across the area already have the highest rating from their inspections in recent years, with a full list on the FSA website food.gov.uk.

All information published is based on results on the FSA website and is correct as of June 4, 2021, with inspections listed as the latest carried out.

Meanwhile we have previously reported that Happy Taste, a Chinese restaurant in Orchard Street, had been downgraded from one star to zero stars - the lowest possible rating possible, meaning urgent action is required.

The FSA is taking enforcement action against the restaurant. The FSA website continues to show the restaurant as zero stars, with the inspection from April 14 listed.

The one star list, which means major improvement is necessary, features Watan Supermarket, Cole Hill, Elgar Inn, Worcester Road, Fortune House, St John’s, Groszek, Lowesmoor and Age UK Worcester And District Lunch Club, Bilford Court.

If managers disagree with a rating, or believe their business has been upgraded since receiving the rating listed on the FSA website, food.gov.uk, they should contact the FSA directly.
