A 'SERIOUS' crash has closed a busy Worcester road this evening after a two-car collision.

Eyewitnesses said police, paramedics and the fire service attended Bransford Road at 7pm to assist victims of the crash.

Tim Clarke, a resident living near the crash scene, said one person was trapped in a vehicle. He said: "The road was full of emergency services. It was a very serious accident, firefighters had to cut somebody out of one of the vehicles. I couldn't get too close and I wouldn't want to, but the person looked conscious".

The collision involved an Audi and a Honda and happened opposite the Swinton Lane junction. Mr Clarke said vehicles parked on the road were damaged from the force of crash.

He said: "This is the third serious accident we've seen at that junction in the last 6 or 7 years, it appears to be a real accident hotspot and it's a real concern to those of us living on that stretch. It's getting to the point that highway authorities need take a look at it just to see if something can be done there - it can't be a coincidence".

The road has since been reopened.
