ONE of the football calendar's biggest occasions is here, with one of Worcester's largest employers letting staff leave early to watch the game.

Gtech, one of Worcester's biggest employers, is allowing staff to leave early to make sure they can watch England's clash with Germany at 5pm.

Boss Nick Grey said: "These games are always big occasions. I can still remember where I was when Shearer scored against Germany at Euro 1996.

"They are certainly big occasions, so we are letting our staff work flexi-time if they want to watch the match later.

"We are trying for a few screens in case people want to watch it here, but it is obviously difficult with social distancing to work it out.

"It will be an interesting game. Germany certainly aren't at their best, but they are always a good tournament team.

"I have a feeling we might just nick a 1-0 tonight and beat Germany."

Elsewhere, staff at Malvern company Sanity Marketing are watching the game on a big screen with pizza, as Gareth Southgate's side attempt to beat Germany in a knockout game for the first time since 1966.

And we all know what happened that time...
