WORK on an "eyesore" former nightclub in Worcester is to get underway soon.

The developers behind the former Images Nightclub say they are to begin demolition of the site to make way for student housing.

Thorneloe Developments is transforming the site into an 83-bed purpose built student accommodation site.

A tweet from the company said: "We will be starting the demolition of the former Images Nightclub in Worcester in the next couple of months.

"The current eyesore will make way for an 83 bed PBSA scheme."

Plans to demolish the former club were approved back in 2019, with Worcester City Council’s planning committee approving an application for a seven-storey building.

The plan was first submitted by Rengen Developments and Worcester-based property developer Thorneloe Developments, undergoing several changes.

The original 112-bed plan was altered to an 110-bed nine-storey plan to make the accommodation building the same height as The Hive.

A subsequent plan, put forward in May, asked for permission to build a 100-bed building but was soon reduced to 89 beds before finally settling on an 83-bed building.
