THERE’S no such thing as waste as far as Em Stevens is concerned.

She launched her business, Handmade by Em last September, and her focus is on making sure nothing is left over.

Speaking from her Bromsgrove-based business, she said: “I make handmade children’s clothing, focusing on reducing waste and using recycled thread where I can.

“I try to use my scraps to make wipes, make-up rounds and my range of scrap-buster clothing.

The greatest thing has been getting my clothes into a couple of local shops.

“It’s so exciting to see my makes out there on the high street.”

And she must be doing something right as many of her customers seem to have the same feeling about creating less waste: “All my customers have been very supportive and many have come back for more.”

Handmade by Em is part of a Facebook group called Worcester Virtual High Street.

The ‘Worcester Virtual High Street’ group is free to join and allows independent shops, services, tradespeople, crafters, e-sellers and entrepreneurs of all kinds to promote their wares to customers free of charge.

Shoppers in turn have the chance to discover hundreds of exciting products, service providers, special offers and one-off buys on their doorstep – more details at https://worcestervirtualhighstreet.co.uk
