AFTER a week of rumour, speculation and excitement Burger King has sadly announced the brand will not be returning to Worcester just yet.

The Worcester News reported early last week that the King may be returning to our faithful city after a job was advertised.

The advert posted on jobsite, Indeed.com, said Burger King was looking for a Worcester based manager.

However, Burger King has now confirmed there are no plans for the chain to come to the city anytime soon.

A spokesman for the fast food giant said: "Burger King UK are regularly evaluating opportunities to bring our great-tasting products to more customers in new locations.

"We do not currently have any information regarding a restaurant at this location, however we have just opened our doors to our brand-new restaurant in Redditch.

"We will keep you informed of further information if it becomes available."

Thankfully, Worcester people can still get their hands on a Big Whopper if they're willing to travel.

There are two Burger King Drive Thru restaurants less than half an hour away from the city centre.

The new Redditch store on Ipsley Street in Trafford Retail Park and a second store on Foley Drive in Kidderminster.

The Redditch store is offering 1,000 free Whoppers until July 5 to celebrate the grand opening.

They can be claimed via the Burger King app before heading to the Drive Thru, and showing the voucher on the app titled ‘Redditch only: Opening special’ for your free Whopper.

The new Redditch restaurant showcases Burger King’s updated, modern restaurant design roll out, using "natural materials with a bold colour palette" and American prints.
