THE OWNER of a local Thai restaurant says they were left 'unable to sleep' after diners allegedly skipped out without paying their bill.

Apisit Chocksawat, owner of Thai on 7evern, in Sidbury, says a young couple went in on Friday evening, ordered food and drink to the amount of £60 but left without paying.

The bill has now been settled after a social media post with pictures of the diners was shared widely.

Although pleased he has now been reimbursed, the restaurateur said: "We just wanted them to pay the bill. I felt so distressed I couldn't sleep on Friday night.

"This also happened three years ago and we installed CCTV, since then it hasn't happened again, until now."

Mr Chocksawat wrote this appeal and posted it on community Facebook group, Spotted: Worcester: "Wanted young couple not paying their £60 bill on Friday, July 2 at Thai on 7evern.

"We will get the footage off security cameras and take to the police tomorrow if you haven’t settled your account by tonight.

He said: "The man left for smokes and never returned. Five minutes later the lady sneaked out when we started getting busy.

"Please share to warn the other restaurants don’t serve this young couple."

The post has since been shared almost 200 times and the situation hasn't gone down at all well with people.

One commenter wrote: "Businesses like this have been crippled by Covid, personally I find this completely classless and a little bit scummy, just saying."

Another simply said: "How embarrassing."

The owner confirmed a diner returned to the restaurant and settled the bill on Sunday evening.
