MYSTERY lights had residents of Warndon Villages looking to the skies at the weekend.

The lights were spotted and filmed by curious people at around 10pm on Saturday evening.

Craig Powell said: "Did anyone else see these lights circling above the clouds last night? I took a few videos.

"They were silent and in or slightly above the clouds.

"Circled around for about 30 mins then were gone."

Another resident called them "spooky and strange" on the Warndon Villages Community Group on Facebook.

Other residents joked they could be alien UFOs.

Explanations were put forward for the lights with most people agreeing they were either spotlights from the hospital or from the city centre.

Another resident suggested it might be a train that emits blue light into the sky.

We revealed recently that NetVoucherCodes.co.uk research showed the West Midlands had 13 reports of unusual activities up in their skies, of 200 reports in Great Britain.

The Royal Air Force was responsible for handling and recording all reports regarding UFOs. However, it was shut down in 2009, after they found no evidence of a threat.

Hundreds of logs are still being made online every year.

A spokesperson from NetVoucherCodes.co.uk said: “The first reported sighting of a UFO was in 1947 when an American pilot claimed he saw a string of nine, shiny things in the sky.

“Since then, UFOs have captivated the attention of people around the world because of their mysterious nature.

“Spotting an unidentifiable flying object has always been a game of chance and chase. We hope this guide to active locations for alien activity in the UK will help sceptics or searchers with their next sighting.

“Our research showed that sightings can happen at any time of the night and sometimes day, but reports are most commonly made during 10pm and 11pm.”
