For the seventh time in less than a month, the pubs and bars of Worcester are preparing to welcome a wave of England fans as the national team take on Italy in the Euro 2020 final.

Bookings have been in high demand and if you haven’t sorted anywhere yet, then you may be out of luck.

Aside from a handful offering walk-ins, almost every pub in Worcester is completely booked up.

The Courtyard, which can host 200 people, has been fully booked since Thursday afternoon and owner Lloyd Cox can’t wait for the big game.

He said: “My phone wasn't very good anyway, but has gone into meltdown with the volume of messages received. I can only apologise to all those who have tried to book but haven't got a response.”

The bar will have six SIA door staff and as they are right by The Cross, will be shutting its doors to stop more customers coming in wanting a celebratory pint come the final whistle.

Many pubs are putting in special measures to deal with what is expected to be an electric atmosphere across the country.

The Saracens Head, on The Tything, is fully booked and will be closing its doors before kick-off and not allowing re-entry.

The Eagle Vaults, Friar Street, is only accepting bookings in advance and will be securing the doors to ensure safety during and after the match.

It isn’t just increased security measures coming into place at The Swan Inn on Barbourne Road, they will be hosting a live DJ throughout the night.

Elsewhere O’Neill’s, Mode and Sixways Stadium are all sold out and the Conservatory bar hasn’t had a table for weeks.

A staff member said: “We’ve been fully booked since before the Germany game!”

For those still looking for a seat, your best bet could be the Horn & Trumpet or the Old Greyhound, on Angel Street and New Street respectively, which will both be accepting walk-ins.
