A NEW restaurant is set to open in Angel Place after several other restaurants failed to stay open for more than a few months before.

JAX Bar and Grill will move into the former Angel Chef which closed abruptly in 2015 and was then taken over by U-Canteen and most recently Panama Jacks.

U-Canteen was only open for six months before closing in 2018.

Panama Jacks closed after being open for just five months following two zero star hygiene ratings in 2019.

The owners of JAX Bar and Grill now hope to break the curse and, in their words, 'provide the best produce and products from ethical, sustainable and traceable sources'.

According to their website the 'exciting new venue' will be serving 'succulent steaks, organic fruit and vegetables, organic beers, lagers and ciders, spirits and breads and puddings'.

They are working with a number of other local businesses such as H. Dayus butchers, Chase distillery, Piston distillery, Stroud brewery and Dunkertons organic cider.

It is not yet known when the new restaurant will open its doors.
