WORCESTER kebab shops may be missing from the nomination list for the British Kebab Awards - but readers know we have some of the best around.

The British Kebab Awards calls itself a "true celebration of our industry, which naturally draws key figures from all sections of the takeaway and restaurant sector.

"As a reflection of the kebab industry’s significant contribution to the UK economy and British culture in general."

While there are some great restaurants nominated unfortunately Worcester restaurants are not included in the shortlist.

However, Worcester News readers have been sharing their own nominations for the best kebab in the city.

If you're looking for after the pub grub or a weekday treat, these are the shops offering the best kebabs in Worcester.

1. Simply Delicious Kebab Land

Powick, Worcester

"it knocks spots off all the others!"

Nominated by Ihsaan Hussain, Glenn Davies, Kate Gilkison and Reece Ryder, it seems like a trip to the Powick roundabout is in order!

2. Worcester Kebab House

Shaw Street

"The original and still the best...."

Another popular vote was for the Worcester Kebab House which is nice and close to the city centre for a kebab on the way home from the pub.

Reader Sarah James particularly likes the chilli sauce.

3. Sophies Shawarma, Pizza and Grill

Lowesmoor

"Sophie’s is the best meat quality"

Marius Ramonas is a fan of Sophie's which is another kebab shop close to the city centre.

4. Shimla Kebab and Grill

St Johns

"Fresh salad, tasty meats"

Shimla was nominated by Ashley Harrison on Facebook and with a five out of five rating on the social media site it seems others agree.

5. Pink Garlic

Gregory's Mill St, Barbourne

"Delicious food (the garlic mayo is THE best!) and lovely staff"

Attila Győr and Fiona Wilding both suggested Pink Garlic in Barbourne.
