A COUPLE are due in court following an alleged 'eye scratch' attack on a door supervisor in Worcester McDonald's.

Lewis Newman and Kerrie Honer have already entered not guilty pleas to assault occasioning actual bodily harm following the alleged attack in the fast food restaurant in The Foregate.

However, David Iles, prosecuting, said the Crown would pursue more serious charges in relation to the incident on New Year's Day last year.

Only Honer, 26, of Sunningdale Road, Tyseley, Birmingham attended the hearing at Worcester Crown Court on Monday.

Newman, 30, of Shawbury Grove, Birmingham, was not present.

Judge Jim Tindal adjourned the case so both defendants could be arraigned together on the new charge of section 20 grievous bodily harm.

The trial, which has a two day estimate and is expected to involve CCTV footage, was placed in a warned list until November 29 this year.

The trial could begin within a two weeks of that date. Both defendants were granted unconditional bail.
