A 26-year-old Stroud man who drove a van without insurance while drunk has been banned from the roads for three years.

Cameron Humphrey-Lomberg of Stanton Road, Cashes Green, was almost twice over the legal alcohol level limit when he drove a Vauxhall Movano on the A46 in Stroud on June 18.

He pleaded guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates Court on July 13 to driving the vehicle with 66 micrograms of alcohol on his breath. The legal limit is 35 micrograms.

He also admitted he did not have third party insurance for the vehicle at the time.

The magistrates disqualified him from driving for three years and fined him £310 plus £85 costs and a £34 victim surcharge.

He was told that he can reduce the ban by nine months if he takes a £250 Government approved driving course at his own expense by August 12, 2023.

The magistrates agreed to allow him to pay the total penalty of £429 by instalments of £50 a week.
