THE team behind the Astwood Road post box which has been given an Olympic yarn bombing has been revealed.

Knitted and crocheted Team GB figures taking part in Olympic events such as hurdles and javelin currently adorn the post box outside Rainbow Hill Premier.

Behind the Team GB creation are Rachel Park and Kirsty Broadbent from Wotahoot at The Rainbow Hill Centre.

The pair, along with four people who come along to their classes, put in an Olympic effort to create the yarn bombing.

It took over 200 hours to create the whole topper with each of the figures taking around 20 hours to complete.

Rachel said: "We created it for the Olympics and to support Team GB.

"Team GB has done really well so far and we've got some brilliant medals - Matthew Richards did brilliantly in the swimming this morning."

It took about a month to create and Rachel and Kirsty worked alongside people who come to Wotahoot's groups at the Rainbow Hill Centre.

"We have loved the reaction to it so far and we are hoping it will really cheer up our community and bring everyone together.

"We have a competition running on our Facebook page which has gone down really well.

"People have to take a picture of it and share it to our Facebook and they could win a prize of an afternoon tea."

Wotahoot has also created a flower garland outside the Rainbow Hill Centre and have plans for a Halloween and Christmas yarn bombing too.
