A PIZZA takeaway, a Chinese takeaway and a Polish supermarket have all received just one star in food hygiene ratings from health inspectors.

This rating means that major improvements are necessary. According to the Food Standards Agency a business will receive a one star rating if they score between 45 and 50 points. For example, if there are a number of breaches to food hygiene and a lack of training among staff.

There are currently just three businesses that have the rating in the city.

Your's Pizza Bite / Little India on Ronkswood Hill, Groszek Market in Lowesmoor and Fortune House in St John's.

The Pizza/Indian takeaway was inspected on May 12 2021.

The report found 'necessary improvements' were required in both hygienic food handling and the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building.

'Major necessary improvements' were required in regards to the management of food safety

The Polish supermarket, Groszek Market, was inspected on March 16 2021.

Inspectors said major improvements were required in terms of the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building and the management of food safety.

They found hygienic handling of food 'generally satisfactory'.

When the Worcester News contacted the supermarket the owner said he no longer owned the shop, that it was closed and set to become a bakery.

Fortune House in St John's was last visited in 2019.

The Worcester News first reported that the Chinese restaurant had been warned to drastically improve its allergen awareness in 2019, after it received a second one-star rating in three years.

Nobody was available when the Worcester News tried to contact the owner.
