There are delays of 30 minutes on the M5 both ways due to emergency repairs.

One lane has been closed causing queues backing up six miles, starting around junction two connecting with the A4123.

The traffic continues until Frankley Services, between junctions three and four.

Emergency roadworks are taking place, leaving the middle lanes closed.

This could cause severe delays for anyone travelling to Worcester from Birmingham.

The situation has been made worse by the bad weather conditions which caused flooding earlier in the morning.

There is also expected to be an increase in holiday-makers heading south for the weekend, with children now off for the summer.

The problem initially started on the southbound carriageway, heading towards Worcester, however from 9am the problem began to develop on the northbound as well.
