STORM Evert is sweeping across the southwest coastal towns - and Worcestershire will also be feeling its effects.

Coastal gales and rain has impacted southwestern UK since Thursday evening and will carry on today too.

While Worcester will miss the worst of the storm the city will still be affected by heavy rain.

Widespread heavy rain is predicted to continue throughout Friday morning.

However, it will break up into showers by the afternoon and luckily there will be some sunny spells to end the day.

Worcester will have the tail end of the storm with blustery winds making it feel rather cool.

The maximum temperature in Worcester will be 20C.

Storm Evert has brought with it an amber wind warning which has been issued for much of Cornwall, as well as the Isles of Scilly.

Yellow warnings remaining in place for the wider southwest, southern Wales and along the southern coast of England.

The highest winds were expected to be over parts of Cornwall during the early hours of Friday, when gusts could reach as high as 75mph in the most exposed areas.

Other coastal areas in southern parts of England and Wales will also see high gusts, mainly between 40 and 60mph.

People setting off on holiday should expect some travel disruption caused by the storm.
