A 35-year-old man did not attend court to face a charge of threatening behaviour because he said he was self-isolating after developing Covid symptoms.

Jason Bridger did not attend Worcester Magistrates Court on Thursday.

He faces three charges - using threatening/abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress, failing to comply with a red light signal and failing to stop the car when required by an officer.

All the alleged offences are said to have taken place in Worcester on June 22 this year.

Bridger of St George's Lane North, Worcester, had been asked by the court to provide proof of any message that required him to self-isolate.

Bridger replied on July 27: "I don't have one. A friend is positive."

Another message came from Bridger the following day, asking the court: "Can I have some clarification about whether I need to break my self-isolation?"

The case was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
