TWO men were pictured climbing on one of the 66 sculptures from Worcester's Big Parade, as St Richard's Hospice has urged people to stop for their own "safety".

Panda, commissioned by artist Steve Johnson, has set up home outside Superdrug on the High Street.

Two young men were pictured sitting on top of the sculpture on July 23, with four friends standing and taking pictures of the two riding the elephant.

Tricia Cavell, fundraising director at St Richard’s Hospice, said people must not climb any of the sculptures for their own safety.

She said: "It has been fantastic to witness so many people enjoying interacting with the elephant sculptures in our beautiful city.

"However, people must not climb – or sit – on any elephant sculpture for their own safety. Climbing and sitting on the elephants can damage them too."

The elephants are due to go on auction at the end of the eight-week showcase, with the money donated to charity.

She said: "As our giant eles will eventually go to auction, we ask everyone to help us keep them looking their best so we can raise as much as possible for our care to patients and their loved ones.

"And, it’s important to protect the ele-babies too.

"These sculptures were carefully crafted by schools and community groups, who will eventually keep them as a lasting memento of the parade.

She added: "We thank everyone for their understanding, and support of Worcester’s Big Parade"
