THUNDERSTORMS are expected to break out over Worcester on Friday - but the city will escape the worst.

Extensive heavy, thundery showers are expected in Worcester on Friday, as the Met Office issue an amber alert for the Midlands.

Showers are expected to continue into Saturday with sunny spells.

There will be more sunny spells on Sunday with scattered showers.

Worcester News:

The Met Office has released a weather warning for the Midlands and into the north of the country.

Slow moving thundery downpours are expected to cause localised surface water impacts.

Warnings are in place that there is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater.

Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.
