A VAN ended up on its side following a crash on the M5 near Droitwich this morning (Wednesday).

Fortunately, nobody was injured during the crash between two cars and the van.

It happened at just before 8am on the northbound carriageway near Junction 5.

All lanes were initially closed off while the Highways Agency, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue and West Midlands Ambulance Service cleared the carriageway.

There were queues of up to 45 minutes on the M5 at its peak but all lanes were reopened by just after 10am.

Fire crews from Droitwich and Bromsgrove used a winch to help the Highways Agency team clear the area.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said it was called at 7.59am and found two cars and one van had crashed.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called to to reports of a multi-car collision on the northbound carriageway of the M5 junction 5.

They sent an ambulance, a paramedic officer and a critical care paramedic to the scene but were eventually stood down.
