MORE than 1,000 classic cars will be motoring into Worcestershire next weekend when the Rotary Club of Tewkesbury stages its popular Classic Vehicle Festival.

The event, which takes place this year on Sunday, August 22, is the Rotary Club’s biggest charity annual fundraiser which raises thousands of pounds for both national and regional charities.

The event features a spectacular display of over 1,000 classic vehicles, from the dawn of the motoring era, to pre-war, post-war, American classics, custom cars, hot rods, supercars, motorbikes to modern classics.

It’s not just cars either. More than 200 classic motorcycles will be on display, with all the major marques represented, plus more than 100 quality trade stands selling everything from car accessories, autojumble and memorabilia.

Iconic motorcycle builder Allen Millyard will be returning with the ‘Flying Millyard’.

The bike resembles a two-wheeled Chitty Chitty Bang Bang but don’t be fooled, the vintage-looking home built bike is fitted with two cylinders from a Pratt and Whitney 1340 radial and a 5.0-litre V-Twin engine designed for an aeroplane!

And there's a welcome back for the Bond, Hannis & Osbourne “Nuthing II Fancy” Drag Racing Team.

The car will be firing up at regular intervals throughout the day which is always a crowd pleaser.

Guaranteed to be one of the highlights will be the evocative sight of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire flypast.

The flypast is courtesy of The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, the RAF’s tribute to the aviators of WWII – Lest We Forget.

Festival organiser Anthony Stockman said: “We are thrilled to have been granted this flypast as our show visitors will get to remember the enormous sacrifices made in pursuit of our freedom. In recent years the Rotary Club of Tewkesbury have actively supported The Royal British Legion, Royal Naval Association, the War Memorial Repair fund and SSAFA."

New for 2021 live music with the marvellous vintage songstress Betsy Harmony and the ‘hot rockin’ piano man Jon Clare who will be belting out classic hits from the 1950s and 60s.

The annual event is a must-do on the classic car show calendar and is a superb family day out, while raising vital money for worthwhile causes.

By displaying your car, or by visiting our show you will be making a valuable contribution to the event's chosen charities, the Midlands Air Ambulance, Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice in Cheltenham and Tewkesbury Foodbank.

The event takes place at Tewkesbury School playing fields and organisers will put all necessary precautions in place to safeguard visitors and will fully comply with the Government and Public Health England Covid guidelines at the time.

The details of the measures will be communicated nearer to the event date. If the event has to be cancelled due to coronavirus, your tickets will automatically be valid for the following year, unless a refund is requested within 30 days of the event cancellation.
