DEAR Editor – Further to my recent letter regarding the ticketing situation at Worcester racecourse, I have been in regular contact with the current management team in relation to the opening of the picnic parking and centre course admission.

On each occasion I was informed that due to regulations laid down by the Jockey Club regulatory board that the picnic area parking and centre course use would be prohibited until at least September.

Then I see that the Ladies Evening racing event included use of the centre course with tickets being made available via the racecourse website.

I naturally assumed that this meant that the regulations regarding the ban on the centre course by the Jockey Club had been lifted, otherwise how could they allow the use of the centre course to paying customers.

So I enquired about the availability of tickets for the picnic area parking and centre course tickets for the next race meeting following the Ladies Evening.

Surprise surprise, the answer was that, no the centre course would not be available for the foreseeable future, only as a one-off to accommodate the racegoers on Ladies Evening with tickets costing 85 per cent more than a standard race meeting for the same area of the racecourse.

Is it possible for the current management regime to explain just why the Jockey Club regulations preventing use of the centre course can be ignored for one night but then put back in place for the rest of the season?
