We are a nation of self-confessed fish and chip lovers, so much so that it has even become tradition for most Brits to head to the chippy on a Friday evening.
Most loyal punters would swear by their local fish and chip shop, and the debate of who's is the best often divides opinion.
And while we by no means expect to end that debate, we have ranked every chippy in Worcester by using their ratings on TripAdvisor to provide just a tiny bit of clarity on which is the best.
7th - St Peters Fish
Last place is probably a bit misleading in this ranking, as Sainte Peters Fish is still rated a very strong four stars from a possible five.
However, with only 36 reviews it does find itself bottom of TripAdvisor's table, although there are still plenty of pleased fried food enthusiasts that have left their positive thoughts.
One wrote: "This fish and chip shop is always busy, but the staff work really hard to see you as quickly as they can. They are friendly and efficient, the food is freshly cooked, tasty and good value."
6th - The Bath Road Chippy
Another four-star fish shop, The Bath Road Chippy trails closely behind Lyppards Fryer, purely on the number of reviews.
With 24 out of 46 people hailing their fish supper as excellent, the chippy still isn't short of a happy customer.
One surprised visitor said: "Visited twice in March 2021 for the first time in months.
"I must say it has improved so much from the last time. I would now recommend Bath Road chippy. Well done guys, keep up the good work."
5th - Lyppards Fryer
Given four out of five stars, this Ankerage Green chippy still holds its own amongst its competitors.
The reviews are slightly more evenly spread for Lyppards Fryer, but there are still plenty of delighted diners on TripAdvisor.
One wrote: "We use this chippy as it's in close proximity of our house. We normally order 4/5 times a year and they have never let us down.
"Great, fresh food and well-priced. We tend to order fish and chips, and chips and a kebab. All are fantastically flavoursome, and the chips are always a highlight."
4th - Crispy Cod
The last of the four and a half star fish shops, the Crispy Cod secures itself a very respectable fourth place finish.
Punters have praised the chirpy chip shop owner for his brilliant customer service.
One loyal customer said: "Best chip shop in Worcester, I've been coming here since I was a teenager and I'm 30 now.
"Decent portions and they're always clean from oil, and the battered sausages are to die for.
"The owner is an absolute legend, always has smile on his face, always friendly, wish he would open a shop in Warndon."
3rd - Rainbow Hill Chippy
Closely following in third place is the Rainbow Hill Chippy, which also has a four and a half star rating, but is narrowly pipped on reviews.
37 of 45 diners agreed that their experience was 'excellent', with only four people rating it below 'very good'.
One diner wrote: "Always a lovely experience to come here. The owner is a gem, and the food is delicious and cooked to order, so you know that it's absolutely fresh.
"A very generous helping - one fish and chips was enough for 2 of us."
2nd - Donnellys Fish & Chip Shop
Just half a star short of the full five, Donnellys narrowly misses out on the maximum rating on TripAdvisor.
However, this chippy isn't short of a glowing review, with 69 out of a total 90 people rating their fish supper as 'excellent'.
Fish and Chip enthusiast, Bernie C, said: "The best fish and chips in Worcester, quick, friendly service.
"Good quality, the best I've tried in Worcester."
1st - Ambleside Fish Bar
Boasting the only five-star review for a Worcester fish and chip shop, the Ambleside Fish Bar seems to be the undisputed king.
One happy customer wrote: "FOOD HEAVEN. Had fish and chips from here loads of times, never ever disappoints.
"Second time today ordering online to be delivered to our home and it was delivered on the dot and very covid safe. Massive haddock with thin crispy batter, which you can't wait to get on the plate. We feel fat now but very happy."
