THE former QinetiQ site in Malvern has been the subject of yet another planning application.

The site, located to the rear of the Chase School, sits between the Malvern College playing fields and QinetiQ itself.

It is hoped the building will serve as the entrance to a future Malvern Technology Park.

The primary function of the building proposed within the application is to "connect and create a hub or gateway into the three commercial sites that are QinetiQ, Malvern Hills Science Park and the proposed Malvern Technology Park.

The building will be primarily a reception and security gate to the site.

For this reason the current security fence locations will be "adapted and relocated" in order to refocus employees and visitors to the proposed building and through it into the secure site.

Other functions will be to accommodate additional and new meeting and conference spaces, able to be used exclusively by the primary three users, as well being a local resource that can be hired out as required.

Café and refreshment facilities are proposed within the building and will be able to accommodate groups of visitors to the site as well as being able to display material from such groups as the Malvern Radar and Technology History Society, who have expressed an interest in using the building to tell the history of the site, which was once the Telecommunications Research Establishment (TRE).

The building is planned to have timber cladding to better fit in with the natural surroundings of the site.
