A POPULAR park in Worcester is getting a makeover.

All weather paths, more bins, park benches, cycle hoops, picnic tables and natural play features in the play area will be installed at Cromwell Crescent Park.

Work on the renovations started on Monday (September 6).

Councillor Andy Stafford, said the investment would improve the experience of visitors.

"It will also ensure that it continues to provide a safe haven for birds and bats, with the new wildflower meadow helping to boost the numbers of bees and other insect pollinators," he said.

City Council staff and contractors will be supported by members of Community Payback - a national scheme which allows offenders to work, under close supervision, on projects to pay back the community for their crimes.

The iron entrance gate and posts originally manufactured at Worcester foundry will be restored and new railings will be installed.

The park will remain open but the entrance on Cromwell Crescent will remain closed for approximately two months.
