HOMES and businesses in west Worcester are currently experiencing a power cut this afternoon.

More than 700 properties have been without power since 2.20pm according to Western Power Distribution.

Currently, over 50 homes and businesses are still without power as engineers continue to fix the issue.

The properties are in the WR2 area near the B4204 between Lower Broadheath and Martley.

Postcodes affected are WR2 6LS, WR26LR, WR2 6PD, WR2 6LT, WR2 6LP and WR2 6LW.

It was caused by a high voltage incident which tends to be larger, affecting the wider area.

Western Power Distribution said it hoped to have power returned to all properties by 9pm.

The company said: "We are aware of this power cut incident which was raised at 2:21pm this afternoon and our engineers are working to get the power returned as quickly as possible.

"We are sorry for any inconvenience this is causing you."
