PEOPLE are being asked to get involved in marking the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 by lighting beacons.

There is a long and unbroken tradition nationally of celebrating Royal Jubilees, Royal Weddings and Coronations, as well as other milestones, with the lighting of beacons, and more than 1,500 beacons will be lit across the country at 9.15pm on June 2 next year to mark the 70th anniversary of the Queen’s coronation.

Malvern Hills Trust is among the listed supporters of the initial plans, and an appeal has gone out to Worcestershire residents to register their participation and get involved.

The highest point in Worcestershire, at Malvern Hills, was lit up by a beacon to celebrate the 70th anniversary of VE Day in 2015.

Organised by the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacons a guide to taking part has now been released, available to read at queensjubileebeacons.com and will be updated on this site at the end of each month as more communities, individuals and organisations etc, register to join the event.

Anyone interested in taking part can register through the website.
