EVERY order Sarah Watmore receives leaves her either grinning or doing a little dance for joy – and she reckons that when that buzz stops, it will be the day to start thinking about doing something else.

But after nine years running her Hallow-based online Miss Milly business, there’s no sign of ending the little happy dances any time soon.

The prime focus of Miss Milly is colourful jewellery, from current on-trend yellow and perennially popular turquoise and blue to luscious lime and pretty pink.

Sarah said: “I create collections with co-ordinating pieces so you can have necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings that match, or clash, depending on your preference!

“Our accessories offering includes scarves, both all-year round styles and heavier winter weight designs, as well as stylish purses and adorable animal and bird keyrings that work as bag charms too.”

Men are also catered for, with a relatively new range of colourful resin cufflinks, perfect for getting back out into the world of work.

Sarah added: “Brooches have experienced a resurgence in general and our magnetic collection are very popular – no pin damage!”

And she’s still very appreciative of her customers: “Every single order is a show of appreciation for what you’ve created, it’s somebody’s individual decision to choose you over all of your competitors.

“I have won some Highly Commended jewellery awards and been selected as one of 2021’s 100 top female entrepreneurs in the f:entrepreneur #ialso campaign run by Small Business Britain, all of which are fantastic accolades for a small brand.

“But it is the customer feedback that is most important to me. Alongside selling directly to the public, Miss Milly is stocked by retailers throughout the UK.

“I love getting calls where somebody bought a necklace on holiday, loves it and can I help with matching earrings?

“I don’t think I’ve ever had any strange requests. But I have been approached by a very varied range of retailers and eCommerce businesses about stocking our products, from the expected gift shops and garden centres to Glamis Castle, a pet shop in Oman – and a sex toys business who was looking to diversify.”

Like so many online businesses, Miss Milly was hit hard by the pandemic as wholesale customers cancelled orders and closed shop.

Sarah said: “I continued to receive orders directly from the public but I needed to ramp that up so introduced Letterbox Loveliness, a gifting by post initiative with a twist.

“You’ll find this offer on its own page on our website. The customer selects the type of product and colour or style they would like to be sent. They provide the recipient’s details and a personal message, which I handwrite on to a gift card.

“The jewellery or keyring is wrapped in tissue and posted out in a hand-decorated padded envelope. It gave my daughter and I pleasure in creating them, hopefully made the posties smile and was a cheerful splash of colour on the recipient’s doormat.

“Letterbox Loveliness helped to grow sales and is still available now.

“I also started working with a local designer from Upton On Severn and you’ll find our collaborative offering on the Local Loveliness page of the website with magnetic gift hearts and pocket hug keyrings.

“By buying these products, you are supporting two small Worcestershire businesses.”
