THE riverside fountain popular with young families is currently switched off.

Orange safety barriers have blocked off the South Quay fountain which are not running at the moment.

Usually, the fountain is a favourite spot for young children who enjoy playing in the spray during the warm weather.

But the fountain has had to be closed off while Worcester City Council carry out repair work.

Paving stones around the base of the fountain have become loose and work to fix them will be carried out this week.

A City Council spokesperson said:  “The Quayside Fountain will be closed for the next few days while we repair some paving stones which have become loose around the base.

"Barriers have been put in place while the work is underway.

"We apologise for any inconvenience.”
