A TEENAGE scooter menace who damaged a shop window has been placed under stricter control by the courts in the hope it will put the brakes on his bad behaviour.

Josh Smith, 19, of Jamaica Road, Malvern, was made subject to a criminal behaviour order (CBO) at Worcester Magistrates Court earlier this month.

The two-year CBO was granted on the conviction for criminal damage to a shop window in Worcester Road, Malvern on May 17 this year.

The imposition of the CBO also followed driving offences including driving a motor vehicle without insurance, MOT or licence, driving without wearing a helmet, driving without due care and attention and failing to stop for police.

For the offences Smith was sentenced to a community order for two years. He must pay compensation for the damage to the window.

A number of prohibitions have been placed on Smith which include driving or riding any motor vehicle or mechanically propelled vehicle including scooters, in an antisocial manner including, but not only, by riding fast through residential streets, riding on pavements, doing wheelies and not wearing a helmet.

He must not drive or ride any motor vehicle or mechanically propelled vehicle including scooters, in any public place or on any land that the public have access to, that is not registered or insured to Josh Smith save for when on private land where prior permission has been obtained by the landowner.
