A SHOPLIFTER has been jailed for stealing bottles of perfume worth hundreds of pounds and for failing to surrender.

Kelly Phipps of Hawthorne Close, Drakes Broughton, Pershore admitted stealing several bottles of perfume and failing to surrender, resulting in an eight week prison sentence.

Appearing before magistrates in Kidderminster earlier this month, the 40-year-old admitted stealing the bottles worth £46.98 from Savers in Pershore on June 26 this year.

The offence was considered serious because the defendant was said to have a flagrant disregard for court orders and because the offence was committed during the operational period of a suspended sentence.

She was ordered to pay compensation of £25. No order was made for costs.

Phipps also admitted stealing three bottles of perfume to the value of £84.97 from Savers in Pershore on July 5 this year and failing to surrender to police / court bail at the appointed time on August 12 this year.

The total sentence was eight weeks in prison.
