Organisers of Birmingham’s German Christmas Market 2021 have announced the dates for its return.

Last year, the Frankfurt Christmas Market had to be cancelled because of the covid pandemic.

However, for its 21st year, the popular market will run from Thursday, November 4 until Thursday, December 23.

Market stalls line Victoria Square and New Street in Birmingham selling food and drink, traditional toys, gifts and ornaments from 10am to 9pm.

The market will open on Thursday 4 November 2021, bringing with it the festive aroma of hot gluhwein, schnitzel and spicy sausage.

This year, however, the market will be fewer stalls because of the planned public realm works around Victoria Square.

Also this year’s event does come with the caveat of change or cancellation, should Covid restrictions come back into effect during the winter.

Returning for 2021 is the big wheel and ice rink in Centenary Square which will run from November 4 until January 9, between 10am and 10pm, except on Christmas Day.
