Police officers were injured as a driver on the M5 tried to escape after being pulled over.
The incident occurred on the M5 near Junction Six, Warndon, just outside of Worcester.
Worcester Operations Patrol Unit (OPU) confirmed that its B unit assisted Central Motorway Police with the stop of a BMW.
After being pulled over the male driver tried to get away, crashing into police cars.
Police used a taser to restrain the man and he has now been arrested.
Two police officers were injured as a result of the incident, with one suffering a broken foot.
Worcestershire OPU took to Twitter shortly after 6pm yesterday, Friday September 17, to share photos of the damage caused.
The caption read: “Once stopped the driver decided to try and leave smashing into our cars and injuring two officers.
“#Taser deployed and male arrested.
“Officer has a fracture to his foot.”
Worcestershire OPU confirmed at 3pm on Saturday September 18 that the driver of the BMW had been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, two counts of assaulting police, disqualified driving and driving without insurance.
He has now been remanded at Court.
